Terraced plots, goblet-pruned.
Ollon, Vaud canton, Switzerland, March.
"These vines (right), pruned into the traditional goblet shape on poorly accessible terraces, requires eight hundred hours of work per hectare. A wire-supported and mechanised vinyard (left) requires eight to ten times less time. And on top of this, we are constantly reducing the quantity in order to maintain the quality. The price of our wine is thus high, yet we offer our landscape and our way of life as a bonus in every bottle! Yes, I think we will be able to face the competition."
