"The Drôme cereal cooperative has an output of over 200,000 tonnes a year, of which half is maize, a quarter wheat, and the rest other cereals both oleaginous and proteaginous. All of this is produced in six months and used over the whole year, primarily for livestock. The mass capitalisation, the degree of managed production and the length of the yearly cycle make agriculture a heavy industry."
