"In the top left of the image, a bush or young tree was planted to �diversify the landscape' and act as a perch for birds of prey. It allows the farmer to obtain a subsidy. Below, in the middle of the maize, the large grassy band 5 or 6m wide is there to comply with ecological requirements (an insect refuge) and is rewarded with another subsidy."
