Fence vine

Wire-supported crop, harvested.

Lower Durance Valley, France, late October.

"What do I like best about the vines? The grape harvest! It's a celebration! In a few years time, when we uproot these old vines (left), my employer will replant a new wire-supported vineyard: it lives longer and provides more space for a machine to pass. More height means fewer diseases and, because it is less dense, it is of better quality too ... there are only advantages!"
